US Justice Department Examining iTunes Tactics

New York Times columnist Brad Stone is reporting the Justice Department is examining Apple's tactics in the sale of digital music.  This past March, Apple supposedly asked music labels not to participate in Amazon's MP3 Daily Deal program.  The program gave Amazon the right to sell a new release song or album a day before Apple could with special pricing.  Apple asked the labels not to participate in the program and removed any marketing for albums included in the program.
